Should YouTubers Be Responsible For Their Fans’ Actions?

Over the past couple of months, people who use YouTube as a career or a platform have been at a standstill since they just can’t go out and make the content they used to before the pandemic hit. We are starting to see them get more creative, whether it’s collaborating through Zoom to make a video or even taking old, unreleased footage and making it into a blooper reel. But over the last couple of months, we also have seen YouTubers go out to parties and restaurants without taking social distancing seriously. The Coronavirus has taken a toll on a lot of people. But how can we make sure people take accountability for their actions?

Responsible or not?

Many people think it’s irresponsible for those who are going out to these parties or other social events because they aren’t taking things seriously and could possibly affect those around them or their families. Since some of the YouTube community live in houses with other creators, it heightens the stakes of someone becoming infected with the virus and not knowing that they got the virus. Some of these YouTubers aren’t getting tested as often as they should if they want to be around people or their families.

Lack of accountability for YouTubers

Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of people in the YouTube community who do care and are showing great examples of how you can stop the spread of the virus. They’re making sure that their fans prioritize safety. But as for the other section of YouTubers, the lack of accountability they have is quite shocking. They just don’t care about what their fans will think or do. By going out to these parties during this time, they’re showing their fans that they shouldn’t care. What do you think? Should YouTubers be responsible for the example they set for fans?
