Zara Opens Eco-Friendly Soho Flagship Store

Inditex Group owned Zara opened a 47,361 square-foot eco-friendly flagship store in Soho. The New York Citystore, located at 503-511 Broadway between Broome and Spring street, is a part of Zara’s plan to make all of its stores eco-friendly by 2020. The Pre-war Soho store will consume 30 percent less energy and 50 percent less water compared to a traditional Zara store. The building also qualifies for LEED certification.

Inditex Chairman, Pablo Isla boasted about the new store and the reason for upgrading Zara stores.

“it is particularly relevant for several reasons: the quality and size of its location, the environmental component that promotes the goals of our eco-efficient store project, its design, and its technological proposal. From today forward this new flagship will undoubtedly be a global benchmark,” Isla said in a statement.

In addition to the eco-friendly upgrades, The store includes artwork by Zara’s architecture team and has interior features including the original cast iron façade, interior and brick wall from the 1878 design.

The new Soho location is the eighth store for Zara in Manhattan. Locations across NYC include Fifth Avenue, Lexington Avenue, and 34th Street. Zara also opened a new store at 222 Broadway.
