‘Harry Potter’ Actor Alan Rickman Dies at 69

The legendary villain from “Die Hard” and “Harry Potter,” Alan Rickman, has passed away from cancer at the age of 69.

He’s most remembered for playing Hans Gruber and Severus Snape, but he should be remembered for According to USA Today, he studied graphic design at the Chelsea College of Art and Design. That led to him working at the Notting Hill Herald newspaper.

Rickman couldn’t resist his passion of acting and began his career on stage with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1978.

He continued to be a breakout success across the pond in a 1987 Tony Award nominated performance as Valmont in “Les Liasons Dangereuses.”

His film breakthrough came with 1988’s “Die Hard.” This led to many roles on the big and small screens. These roles led to a Golden Globe, an Emmy, a BAFTA award and a Screen Actors Guild award.

We can still enjoy the actor’s inspiring career, because he has two films coming out this year.

Rickman stars in “Eye in the Sky” with Hellen Mirren and Arron Paul. The powerful film will be in theaters in March. The movie portrays modern warfare with a military officer’s mission escalating from capture to kill just as a nine-year-old girl enters the kill zone.

He also reprised his voice role as the Blue Caterpillar in “Alice Through the Looking Glass” that will be out this summer.

The role that he will probably be remembered for the longest is his role in the ‘Harry Potter’ series. This was a bold role because he was portrayed as a villain from the beginning, but turned out to be one of the heroes. The character was very brave to play a double agent who fooled the biggest villain of them all.

When we look back at Rickman’s career, we should remember him not just for his great roles, but for a person who pursued his dream and made a great career out of it. He didn’t settle for the more stable job, he dreamed bigger. His legacy should be to follow your passion.
