The world is in a state of staying at home. And the travel industry will never be the same. Since the global COVID-19 pandemic, people all over the world have been forced to cancel flights, vacations and rentals for the foreseeable future. No one is sure when it will be safe to travel or when the tourism industry will open up again. Until then, Toni McClelland, owner of Travel Bliss Vacations, chats with Bold TV about the future of travel and how to plan a trip once you feel comfortable leaving your home.
How Tourism Will Look Different After the Pandemic
While we don’t know when the vacation industry will return to (almost) normal, we know that travel will look different after the pandemic. (Face masks will probably be at home on people’s faces for a while.) First, social distancing will be difficult for people to forget. Tour groups and cruise ships will probably cut down on size. Some travel agents predict that people will purposefully avoid crowds. This could mean they will not travel to big cities and famous landmarks in the peak seasons. Their alternative option would be to travel to smaller and quieter cities. Or they could rent a boat with friends and sail the seas, far away from the hustle and bustle. Second, people will probably use their travel time to soak up the Vitamin D in the great outdoors. Walking and biking tours may be more popular, as people can have their space.
Daydreaming About the World Outside your Home
What is the perfect destination for relaxing from all the pandemic stress? It’s up in the air. First, keep an eye out for the U.S. dollar and how its value changes in different countries. Then, it depends on how you like to travel. Luxury travel agents look at who their client is and what they do to relax or have fun. The perfect itineraries can’t be one-size-fits-all. If you like the outdoors, you may like Patagonia. But if you love to eat, you may love Portugal. If you are a history buff, you may enjoy Israel.
