At age 21, Taylor Bennett came out and decided to be one of the loudest LGBTQ voices within the rap community. Watch here or on our Facebook page.
Today on Bold Business, Taylor Bennett, Musician, Entrepreneur and Philanthropist, and Marcie Allen, President of MAC Presents joined our hosts David Grasso and Selena Hill to discuss a new campaign with Urban Outfitters that supports LGBTQ students.
Taylor, who is an advocate and supporter of the LGBTQ community, explained that he joined this campaign to inspire others to be themselves and to be comfortable in who they are. Taylor, who is also the brother of Chance the Rapper, said the rap community can make a difference by having influential artists stand up for what they believe in. As he continues his journey in building his career, he said he hopes to use his music to bring people together as a community and support each other regardless of our differences.
The Urban Outfitters campaign is striving to ensure safe and affirming schools for LGBTQ+ students and 100 percent of proceeds go to GLSEN. Marcie explained that there is so much power in music, and Taylor — an artist who is an inspiration to many — is the perfect fit to represent this campaign.
