Although Anthony Tata has many impressive titles such as Author, Former General and Former Superintendent, he said being a Superintendent has been his favorite. Anthony joined Carrie Sheffield and Clay Aiken on Bold TV this morning to discuss public education and his new book in our Bookstr segment. Coincidentally, Anthony and Clay share a common interest because Anthony was the superintendent of Clay’s former school district in North Carolina. Anthony said, “I love charter schools but my job as superintendent of the public school system is to put every charter school system out of business — because there is no better option for parents than our public schools.”
We also discussed Anthony’s new spy thriller on terrorism called “Besieged.” His book tells a fictional story about an autistic 11-year-old girl who was captured by Iranian special forces in Southeastern North Carolina. When Carrie and Clay asked him about his writing process and how he attracts readers, he said content is the most important thing. Anthony said he uses his past 28 years of experience in the Army to imagine himself in situations that could have potentially happened to former comrades, which makes him feel “like an actor in his own story.”
