Today, Entrepreneur Magazine featured Bold on its “Problem Solvers” podcast hosted by Jason Feifer, editor-in-chief of Entrepreneur Magazine. Jason and I discussed what he dubbed an “exceedingly rare” and “cautionary tale” about a potentially existential trademark dispute that Bold successfully won in 2017 against the massive media/entertainment firms MGM and TEGNA.
More about the “Problem Solvers” Podcast: “Problem Solvers with Jason Feifer features business owners and CEOs who went through a crippling business problem and came out the other side bigger and stronger. Feifer, Entrepreneur’s Editor in Chief, pulls these stories out so other business can avoid the same crippling problems.”
More on the Episode, per Entrepreneur: “In 2015, Carrie Sheffield founded a live-streaming news service called BOLD. Two years later, a pair of gigantic public media companies announced that they, too, would be launching a live-streaming news service called BOLD. In this episode, we follow what happened next… and turn to an IP lawyer to help us make sense of it all.”
As part of the episode, Jason brought the outside legal expert to talk about the rookie mistakes that we could have avoided–but thankfully overcame. The expert was Joseph Gioconda, founder of the Gioconda Law Group PLLC, which bills itself as “an elite law firm in New York City providing high quality brand protection legal and consulting services to clients seeking to design, refine and implement an effective but affordable anti-infringement campaign.”
