Bold Founder Named to Bumble’s ‘Most Inspiring New Yorkers’ List

Today Bumble, the female-first social connection app with more than 40 million global users, unveiled its list of Most Inspiring New York City Bumblers, and I was excited to be among them and share more about our work at Bold.

Portraits and images of this Bumble list of 112 people will be featured on more than 500 outdoor placements, NY subway station takeovers, storefronts, illuminated double-decker buses, and a half-million custom placements on coffee sleeves, pizza boxes, and New York Post newspaper wraps.

Bumble asked me during my interview “What inspires you to make moves in your life?” and I told them that I’m inspired by people who have bent the arc of history toward love, compassion and unity.

The Bumble campaign is a a multi-million dollar effort that’s been more than a year in the making, explained more in a blog post, “Bumble Founder Whitney Wolfe Herd: New Yorkers, You Inspire Us.” The #FindThemOnBumble docuseries and outdoor/experiential campaign is the result of Bumble spending the past 12 months interviewing my fellow New Yorkers to learn our stories about friendship, business, love and living an empowering life.

The Bumble list has both Republicans and Democrats, including Alyssa Mastromonaco, former White House deputy chief of staff under the Obama administration. Liz Bouk, opera singer, and Julie Rice, founder of SoulCycle, are on the Most Inspiring list, as well as past Bold guests and guest hosts, including these lovely people below:

Bold contributor Elizabeth Huntsman, chatted at Facebook New York headquarters with host Catherine Thompson of Talking Points Memo, JP Brammer of The Guardian, and Aaron Morrison of to discuss voting among millennials.

Dre Thomas, who joined Bold Life to tell us about her wonderful organization, Smile On Me, that helps young girls in NYC learn about health and puberty.

What inspires me about this list are the people who are working to make the world a better place. I was excited to be able to share with the Bumble community about our media startup, Bold TV, where we seek to transform our digitally-native generation to build a more perfect union. We are inspired at the possibility of moving our country toward a place of empathy, compassion and shared recognition of universal values. We’re glad that Bumble shares that vision, too.
